Heya! No news on an album release date yet, but we do at least have the first single lined up. It is called “Unwanted In July” and will drop on 7/3/26 on everything you can think of. Because I now have definitive proof that at least one person out there in the world is reading this blog, I feel obligated to overshare about this song. So for those of you still here: this song was written 2 years ago for a 24 hour song writing contest being run by some radio station in Philly. The theme was “Summer” and that made me feel nostalgic for summer vacations while in highschool. Specifically the summer of my freshman year when me and some friends (including current Meteor Police guitarist Dustin) started our first punk band together “Unwanted Sect”. That band lasted maybe 2 years tops and only played 3 or 4 shows, but it shaped me as person more than I care to admit. It also directly lead to a lot of mischief such as treasure hunting on the roof of the Ocean County Mall, robbing a bagel truck in the middle of the night, and skipping multiple days of school to hide in our friend's attic and watch movies like Sid And Nancy and SLC Punk. We were idiots. It was a good time.
Summer punk anthems are a big weak spot for me so I was drawn to the idea of making something fun and nostalgic with a nice undercurrent of melancholy. I have made various lyrical tweaks to the song since we originally slapped it together, but musically it has remained basically the same since day one. I guess we did a pretty good job on the first try! The single art is a modified version of a very low res band pic we were able to salvage from our Myspace page years ago. It's a miracle this tiny 304x195 pixel image survived all these years of device migrations. I used a upscaling algorithm to get it up to something more acceptable for modern screens, but with so few pixels it butchered our faces pretty badly. Luckily I think replacing people's faces with static/scribbles/marker always looks cool so it worked out.

So that's it really! I hope the song inspires you to go cause your own summertime mischief or to remember dumb stuff you did in the past to impress your friends. You only get to have your first “punk kid summer” once.
PS: If anyone out there has a working copy of the original “Unwanted Sect” cassette we made with Dustin's other band “Crippled Wits”, I will pay you a bunch of money for it. Not joking.
